FABAIC 2017 Was Fabulous!

9th Jun 2017

Face and body artists from across the globe recently gathered in Orlando, Florida for the 15th annual Face and Body Art International Convention (FABAIC). Each year the event brings together those passionate about the art form so they can share their talents and grow even further artistically by connecting with the best teachers and artists. The convention oozes energy from the minute you walk through the door to the final gala banquet. We were excited to play a part in FABAIC 2017 with artists Jinny and Mark Reid.

Jinny taught a number of classes. Her intensive six-hour Creative Artistry workshop focused on what many face and body artists struggle with - creativity. The workshop challenge was to transform a model's features using mother nature's colors and textures for inspiration.

"In this class, I gave the students all the tools and knowledge they need, instead of teaching step-by-step, so they can go back home and practice their own style," said Jinny. She personally helped and guided each one of the students. "At one point, I could feel their stress. I was doing a demo on my model, so I told them if they were not comfortable enough to do the jump and create their own characters they could follow me and learn by doing the same as me. I was so satisfied to see that each student created their own character, none of the designs looked the same. This was really amazing."

Jinny carried the "technique" focus from the Creative Artistry class to her intensive Animal Markings workshop, where students learned how to transform specific feature, such as wider mouths, larger eyes, and muzzles. This was another hands-on class where she helped students enhance their own style, rather than imitate hers.

In the floral design class, Jinny demonstrated how to create leaves, petals, and buds, as well as how to place lines for masks and full faces. Using the Fleur Paradise Makeup AQ Prisma Blendset, Jinny show just how easy it is to create a one stroke classic rose.

The more advanced painters appreciated Jinny's Kick Ass Designs class, where she did a live demo inspired by one word: water. Jinny shared all her secrets on how to create a wow effect without too much effort. The key is in smooth and perfect blending using combinations of Paradise Makeup AQ, Precious Gem Powders, Metallic Powders, iNtense Pro, AdGem and jewels, and E.Y.E Lashes.

Jinny also kept busy with the jams.

Convention-goers got to see Mark Reid in action. He demonstrated his famous painted jeans technique at the Mehron booth and kept things going after hours at the jams.

FABAIC is not just for adults. There are also classes for children - which we were happy to sponsor. It is so incredible to watch these young artists so passionate about the art form.
